{"id":175,"date":"2008-11-22T19:10:56","date_gmt":"2008-11-23T00:10:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tenonandspline.com\/?p=175"},"modified":"2008-11-22T19:28:06","modified_gmt":"2008-11-23T00:28:06","slug":"new-helper-in-the-shop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tenonandspline.com\/blog\/archives\/175","title":{"rendered":"One Tough Customer"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"seriesmeta\">This entry is part 1 of 2 in the series <a href=\"https:\/\/tenonandspline.com\/blog\/archives\/series\/a-crib-for-nathan\" class=\"series-89\" title=\"A Crib for Nathan\">A Crib for Nathan<\/a><\/div><p>Now that he&#8217;s arrived, I need to get crackin&#8217; on a crib for our <a href=\"http:\/\/jaromin.com\/blog\/2008\/11\/happy-birthday-nathan-kenneth\/\">latest addition<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As with the cribs I built for <a href=\"http:\/\/tenonandspline.com\/albums\/woodworking\/Annalise%27s%20Crib\/index.html\">Annalise<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/tenonandspline.com\/albums\/woodworking\/Sean%27s%20Crib\/index.html\">Sean<\/a>, I wanted to use an &#8220;off the shelf&#8221; plan to ensure it complies with the latest safety standards as well as to make it easier to fit it with standard hardware, mattress, etc. In the end, we settled on the &#8220;Heirloom Crib&#8221; design I had used for my daughter. This one will be built with cherry and walnut and sport some minor changes, like walnut end panels and compound curves in the posts, to better match the <a href=\"http:\/\/tenonandspline.com\/archives\/series\/boys-cherry-and-walnut-dresser\">completed dresser<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>My 2 week old son Nathan decided to visit me in the shop this afternoon to supervise the construction.
